100 percent! In the OOUX world we have some words for this. Masked objects 🎭 are objects that look the same, wearing the same outfit, but are actually different things. Think you “homepage cards” that house events, articles, products, etc. yay, what a flexible component 🙄…

on the flip side we have shapeshifters 👻. These are the same object that changes outfits arbitrarily. Think your event card that looks slightly different, for no reason, as it shows up in various contexts.

Often we combine shapeshifters and masked objects in one experience…and wonder why our users are confused. Consistency should be leveraged strategically, not dogmatically.
